Sumie Yoneda, DDS
Dr. Sumie Yoneda opened up her own practice in 2013 after working for Kahului Dental for 10 years. She has a brand new office in the center of Kahului.
Dr. Yoneda earned her Bachelor’s in Physics at Ochanomizu Women’s University in Tokyo, Japan. She attended dental school at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) and finished graduate school at TMDU. She earned PH.D with the study of proteoglycan of dental pulp cells in 2002. She also researched biocompatibility of degradable polymer useful for dental implant treatment at National Institute of Standards and Technology in D.C. and was given IADR Implant Research Group Young Investigator Award in 2002.
She practiced general dentistry at Toranomon Hospital in Tokyo. She published Short-term clinical evaluation of a resin-modified glass-ionomer luting cement on Quintessence International in 2005.
She obtained her Hawaii dental license in 2000. Dr. Yoneda moved to Maui in 2003, and has been providing high quality dental care to the population in Maui.
Dr. Yoneda enjoys spending time with water color painting, fabric staining with natural extract. Her husband, Professor Kan Yoneda teaches robotics in Japan. Both of Mrs. and Mr. Yoneda love high technology.
